Danielle Tremaine of St. James captured the Gold Medal at the 2008 OFSAA Provincial
wrestling championships held in Caledonia.
It all started when Danielle was in Grade 8 at St. John Elementary
in Arthur. Danielle had decided that she would attempt to
participate in every sport the school offered. One of those
sports happened to be the school wrestling team. She trained
and participated in one tournament that year, finishing third.
Danielle came into high school as a very shy and quiet young
lady. Being involved with wrestling gave her confidence and
self esteem. She made many close friends through her high
school years. Tremaine notes that "Getting
to meet so many interesting people from across the Province
all united under one sport was a wonderful opportunity to
interect with each other and build lifetime friendships."
This was the fifth and final trip to OFSAA for the small
but mighty Danielle and she made it count. Danielle dominated,
pinning her first two opponents and out pointed her final
two opponents on her way to capture the Gold Medal.
Danielle is looking forward to attending University in the
Fall and hopes to continue her wrestling career. Best of luck,
Danielle!
